HOUGHTON, Mich. – No. 20 Michigan Tech defeated No. 18 Lake Superior State Tuesday (Feb. 23) to earn a WCHA series split with the Lakers. The Huskies scored three goals in the second period to take control and improve to 15-8-1 overall and 5-5 in the WCHA.
“We needed that win,” Tech coach Joe Shawhan said. “I give credit to the players. They just kept grinding. We’ve been doing the right things and not getting the result. Tonight, some goals went in for us and that was the difference.”

TUESDAY GAME • Michigan Tech will play at Ferris State on Tuesday in Game 1 of a WCHA set. The two teams will end the series on February 9 in Big Rapids. • The puck hits the Ewigleben Ice Arena at 7:07 PM on Tuesday • The Huskies are 8-5-1 overall and 2-2 in the WCHA.
TOUR • Tech is in the middle of a seven-race road trip. • The Huskies started with a 4-1 win over NMU (January 25) and then lost a few games at No. 8 Bowling Green over the weekend. • Tech travels to Alabama Huntsville this weekend (Feb. 5-6) for a series of non-conferences • The tour ends Feb. 9 in Ferris State.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Ranked # 18 in Michigan Tech hockey team fell 5-2 Saturday to No. 8 Bowling Green in WCHA action at the Slater Family Ice Arena. The Huskies are now 8-5-1 overall and 2-2 in the WCHA.
“I thought we were playing hard tonight,” Tech coach Joe Shawhan said. “I’m proud of the boys and proud of the effort we put in. We got tired as the game went on, especially the guys who logged a lot of time on the special teams.”
