Speaking at a news conference, the White House Press secretary, karine jean pierre, said more was needed to be done. So this level of aid remains insufficient, and we want to continue to press israel to increase the level of assistance moving into gaza. We understand what ijust laid out is not sufficient. We want to get more in. We are continuing to have those conversations with israel, and we have seen some progress. We need to get more in. On thursday, us troops anchored a long awaited Floating Pier which will soon enable aid to enter gaza by sea. Hundreds of tons of aid has arrived in cyprus, where screening takes place before being loaded on to ships for delivery to the pier. But the pentagon stressed this would not be enough to meet the needs of people in gaza. The purpose of this temporary pier is to deliver critical humanitarian assistance to the palestinian people. The pier is temporary, and not meant to replace land routes into gaza. And last, this is an internationally backed
It was very different to the first trip we had to al aqsa. We didnt see a huge amount of trauma. We did some trauma cases, but the amount of trauma was much, much worse before. But what we did see were the most appalling effects of the malnutrition that were seeing across gaza. Severe malnutrition prevents Wound Healing and will prevent these patients from recovering from injuries that otherwise they would recover easily from. And you get this vicious cycle where they really rapidly deteriorate in their health. They will then die of that if theyre not treated. But these are often very young people who under normal circumstances, would recover fairly well from their operations. But because they have such severe malnutrition, their wounds will not heal properly at all. One of my patients, lhama, was an 18 Year Old Girl who had significant explosive injuries. Theres no doubt in my mind she would have survived these injuries if she had not been malnourished. Very sadly, she died the day we

The uk, which has helped the us to build and operate the pier, says this shipment is expected to provide enough provisions to feed 11,000 people for a month. The structure opens up a new route to get food, shelter and other supplies to around 2. 2 million palestinians inside gaza, but thereve been warnings that the pier is only temporary, and appeals for israel to do more to secure routes to get aid into gaza via land. Israels bombardment of gaza has continued, this the scene at Nuseirat Camp In Central Gaza after a strike earlier today. Meanwhile at the uns top court the International Court ofjustice in the hague lawyers acting for israel have been responding to south africas call for an end to Israeli Military action in rafah and across gaza.
