SpaceX Crew Dragon astronauts arrive home with rare pre-dawn splash in Gulf of Mexico
May 3, 2021 by archyde
Four astronauts were strapped to their SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule, disembarked from the International Space Station and plunged into a pre-dawn flight in the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday, stopping the first operational flight of a futuristic SpaceX ferry.
First Crew Commander Michael Hopkins, along with NASA astronauts Victor Glover, Shannon Walker and Japanese astronaut Soishi Noguchi, parted from the port facing space in the Harmony unit before the station at 8:35 p.m. EST. Saturday.
This created the second test water landing for NASA’s post-shuttle commercial crew program and only the third night in space history – the first in nearly 45 years.

Using a milk test to detect pregnancy losses successfully identified early pregnancy loss in two cows that would otherwise have gone undetected, reducing days open and saving £985.
The Idexx test detects pregnancy-associated glycoproteins (PAGs) in milk. These are produced in the placenta once the pregnancy is established.
Although the test can be used from 28 days following artificial insemination (AI), a trial between National Milk Records (NMR) and Raft Solutions on six farms and involving more than 1,000 cows found the test could be best integrated with a vet-led fertility programme at 70-100 days.
A MULTI-agency partnership which aims to make roads in the Bradford district safer has received a prestigious award. Operation Steerside received the Ian Broadhurst Trophy for Outstanding Contribution to Roads Policing at the 2020 West Yorkshire Police Awards, which were held virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic. The online ceremony was held last Thursday and allowed Chief Constable John Robins to congratulate the members of the road safety partnership for their efforts in tackling the anti-social use of motor vehicles in the district. PC Ian Broadhurst was serving with West Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit when he was shot and killed while attending an incident in Leeds, on Boxing Day 2003.
