Coming up clutch was no problem for Team 91 Maryland goalie Aidan Olazabal during the Inside Lacrosse Invitational Session Two.
He did it in Tuesday’s All-Star Game. He did it in the semifinals, making two big saves in the final seconds to send 91 to the title game. And when it mattered most in overtime of the Class of 2024 championship against West Coast Starz he did it again.
Olazabal stopped a Starz shot in overtime, then hurled the ball to a running Ben Firlie (McDonogh, Md.), who took the fastbreak to the goal and scored to give MD the 7-6 victory Wednesday at Troy Park. It was Olzabal’s (Phillips Exeter, Va.) 11th save and Firlie’s third goal of the game, and they were named Defensive and Offensive MVP, respectively.
