The quarry is being built by Volunteer Sand and Gravel, who announced plans to build the mine in Humphreys County near State Route 13.
Pittsylvania County mailed a letter about the 2022 reassessment to all property owners this week, and poor editing on their part has caused some confusion.

A fantasist cancer faker who pocketed £50,000 of donations to fund a gambling addiction has today been jailed.
Nicole Elkabbas, 42, from Broadstairs, spent well-wishersâ money on jaunts abroad, hotels, restaurants and almost £4,000 on a box at Tottenham Hotspur after gambling £63,000 in a year.

The former Harrods fashion consultant baited almost 700 victims by posting a bogus picture of herself in a hospital bed on GoFundMe in 2017.
Handing Elkabbas a two years and nine months prison sentence, Judge Mark Weekes told the fraudster her allegations were pure wild fantasy and a deliberate deceit.
The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for the conviction of two men wanted in a murder in Riverdale in the south suburbs.
Nicholas Morris and Joshua Bobbitt are wanted for allegedly driving along another vehicle and shooting several rounds, according to the FBI.
They stayed to watch the vehicle run off the road before fleeing. The victim was 30-year-old Nicholas Dukes of Steger.
The incident happened Dec. 14. in the 14500 block of South Halsted Street.
It is believed that Morris is being harbored by associates in the southern suburbs of Chicago.
The FBI is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of either individual.
