But i think it is something thats underrealized or viewed as sort of not serious. Theres a difference between being not serious and stupid. Its sort of data visualization. Right now were in the very days of that world of news content and people who have been in traditionally news look at that stuff as interesting, sort of a novelty, lets play around with that. But i think were living in an incredibly, incredibly complicated age and being able to break down issues, being able to break things down in a way thats more easily digestible and bringing those experiences right now, theyre very, very expensive and very hard to replicate on mobile devices. I think as that field grows it is going to become a bigger and bigger part of mainstream News Coverage and how we take issues and how we deliver them to people. Theres one thing that i think is, if i may, serious now that i think will be sill ly later whi is sort of niche media sites, things that are focused exclusively on one audience. There
Information on facebook or on twitter . So that the sharer becomes somewhat synonymous with a publishing brand. Thats exactly it. The sharer is becoming much more important than the actual source of the information. Do i trust this person . How do i feel about this person . If this is one of my most trusted friends and they post something, the chances i read that and think highly of it are greater than if its a person i met one drunken night in college and i friended accidentally. Right. Although they can actually lets talk about that. Can we talk more about that . Right. You know, pivoting to sort of media strategy, you guys have an extremely successful youtube channel. This is interesting because right now in media, as people are beginning to see that display advertising on regular articles doesnt necessarily scale terrific well, its difficult to have hyc pns, theyre turning to video as a savior. The trouble as i see it, in order to have margin, in order to make profit on video, you
Tell us a little bit about how we like to consume information . I think its really interesting because when you think about millennials, one of the sort of suppositions as you said is that its this generation that is, you know, unlike any just wants to do things online and when you think about the tactile experience of leafing through a magazine or print publication theres something about that experience thats about the sense of curiosity and a sense of seriousness that young want to consume their news with. Theres been a lot of assumptions to think this generation doesnt want serious content because were younger, not seeking that. In fact, this is a generation that cares deeply about the world, important issues that wants to be engaged with that. They want their experience to mirror that. While we enjoy going on a site like buzzfeed, there is a sense that we really do care about the world and want to consume that news in that kind of way. If you look at how everybody wants to consume
20. And surprisingly, this move has proven extremely controversial and political, leading to denouncements against congress and lawsuits challenging the legality of the acts, including one by nearly half of the state join in the litigation. So in this program we wanted to situate the conversation on immigration executive acts into a broader context and include other areas of law such as health, environment, gay rights, National Security where the president has also been accused of acting as an imperial president. What makes todays program particularly exciting, therefore, is that it is bring together scholars writing on issues of separation of powers federalism, Administrative Law and legislation, and writes rights ac
Of things, certainly a number of more proactive chinese foreignpolicy and the xi jinping claiming, of course that china is now going to have the brainpower the great power foreignpolicy with special characteristics. But the question remains, i think, as to whether putting the periphery at the top really means recognition of deterioration of chinese relations with the neighborhood therefore leading to an adjustment in chinese foreignpolicy going forward. If that is the case, then what is the adjustment . What we are seeing so far is chinas emphasis on economic integration and trying to give the neighbors economic incentives to connect them through the 21st Century Maritime silk road and the economic the traditional economic silk road, to try to find them bind them more to chinas own development, and, in turn, to assist chinas own development. This is not just about getting. Its about giving. This is what china means by a winwin approach. I think the jury is still out as to whether we ar
