DOH, IATF recommend GCQ for Cordillera Administrative Region

Updated January 24, 2021 7:02am The Department of Health (DOH) and the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) have recommended putting the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) under the stricter general community quarantine from its current status of modified general community quarantine (MGCQ). This was revealed by Dr. Ruby Constantino, regional director of DOH-CAR, at the Kapihan sa Baguio forum on Saturday. The recommendation was given on Friday night during the meeting of DOH and IATF after 11 cases of the UK coronavirus variant were detected in one barangay in Bontoc, according to a report by Bam Alegre on 24 Oras News Alert on Saturday.

Updated January 6, 2021 11:14am The Philippines’ COVID-19 task force has created a panel of experts that will monitor and identify the occurrence of new coronavirus variants in the country. Headed by Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, the technical working group is also mandated to provide policy recommendations to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) on the appropriate response regarding these variants. The other members of the panel are the following: Executive Director Jaime Montoya of the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (co-chairperson)
Persons who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 abroad must still undergo screening for the virus and quarantine upon arrival in the Philippines, the government’s pandemic task force said.
