Boatswainâs Mate 1st Class Dane Niles, assigned to Naval Submarine School, and Chris Zendan, public affairs officer for Naval Submarine Base New London, participate in a virtual Service Person of the Month (SPOM) ceremony sponsored the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut (the Chamber) and Niantic Rotary Club, Oct. 21. SPOM is a year-long program run by the Chamber, and Southeastern Connecticut service organizations like the Niantic Rotary Club, in which 12 local military members are recognized for their accomplishments, not only in the line of duty but also in the greater community.
