Niamh Mulreany attending court
Ms Mulreany s parents Eddie Freeman and Sabrina Mulreany have claimed the two women were being treated worse than animals and that the matter had turned into a complete circus .
The affair took a further twist yesterday when it emerged Ms McGrath returned a false positive for Covid-19 while being held at the Dóchas Centre women s prison in Mountjoy at the weekend.
Further tests carried out by the HSE on Sunday night - after the High Court ordered their release from prison and transfer to a quarantine hotel - returned negative results.
Ms Mulreany, of Scarlett Row in Dublin, and Ms McGrath, from Rialto in Dublin, had already had three negative PCR tests and an antibody exam.
Gardaí say the matter is now in the hands of the Department of Health. An Garda Síochána are liaising with the State Liaison Officer at a designated quarantine facility in accordance with current protocols following a report of three people leaving a facility in the Dublin area earlier today,” a statement this evening said. A graduated policing response was adopted by Gardaí and all three have since been returned to the facility.
“As the Department of Health are the lead agency in relation to the management of mandatory quarantining, An Garda Síochána will not be commenting further at this time.”

Niamh Mulreany s mother Sabrina also said the women were being treated worse than animals’ and the whole situaton had become ‘a circus’.
Ms Mulreany (25) and Kirstie McGrath (30) allegedly refused to enter into mandatory hotel quarantine and were subsequently arrested for breaches to the Health Act last Friday.
Ms McGrath since received a positive PCR test result which has resulted in several gardai being told to self-isolate. However it is understood that a subsequent test result has been received which is negative.
