West Indies men s high-performance camp starts ahead of SA test series

May 15, 2021 The Cricket West Indies (CWI) Selection Panel has named a 30-man squad for a three week high-performance red-ball training camp in St Lucia, starting tomorrow, Sunday May 16, in preparation for the upcoming Test Series against South Africa. The team said the camp provides an opportunity for established Test and developing players alike to sharpen and enhance their red-ball skills in a high-performance environment after a month-long break after the Sri Lanka Series.  It noted that it will include two ‘best v best’ inter-squad matches, as the West Indies look ahead to their final series in the ICC World Test Championship with two Test Matches against the Proteas in June.

(Photo credit - CWI Media) The Guyana Jaguars started their 2021 CG Insurance Super50 Cup campaign with a 56-run win in a rain-affected match against the Barbados Pride on Monday at Coolidge. Chandrapaul Hemraj (35) and Assad Fudadin (5) put on 48 in eight overs before the Jaguars lost their next five wickets for 40 runs. Shimron Hetmyer (80) gave the Guyana Jaguars innings a much-needed boost in a 55-run stand for the 6th wicket with Anthony Bramble (14). Romario Shepherd (58 not out) provided the impetus late in the innings, adding 35 for the 9th wicket with Gudakesh Motie (13) and 23 for the last wicket with Nial Smith (1).

Lendl Simmons hit a magnificent 146 and put on century stands with Evin Lewis and Darren Bravo, as the Red Force piled up a mammoth 362/5 in their 50 overs. Ravi Rampaul and Jayden Seales then decimated the Guyana Jaguars top- and middle-order to leave the 2018 finalists tottering at 94/7. Raymond Riefer hit 97 not out but Guyana was bowled out for 210 in the 44th over to hand T&T their 13th title.
