Fifty years ago, the Kings had their coronation.
The Dresden Jr. Kings captured the first Ontario Hockey Association junior C championship in franchise history back on April 27, 1971.

To head coach Wayne Jacklin, they were a never-say-die crew.
“He said, ‘We had a bunch of farm boys that didn’t know how to quit. And they wouldn’t let us know when they were hurt,’” said captain Gary Chinnick, who was hobbled in the final after a taking a slapshot off his knee.
The Jr. Kings remain the only Chatham-Kent team to win an OHA junior C banner.
