Affordable housing supply fails to meet goal: Official

The supply of affordable housing for low-income earners in urban areas and industrial park workers has only met around 42 percent of the target, Bui Xuan Dung, Director of the Ministry of Construction’s Housing and Real Estate Market Management Agency, told a recent workshop.
A lack of available land and funding were to blame for the social housing shortage, Dung told the “Social Housing: The Establishment of the 2021 - 2030 Comprehensive Social Housing Policy in Vietnam” workshop on April 20 in Hanoi.

In a bid to collect due tax from foreign service providers, Vietnamese authorities are requiring banks and payment intermediary service companies to withhold and pay tax from the accounts of e-commerce foreign contractors who do not register as a taxpayer in Vietnam, raising concerns over overload and risky transactions at local lenders.
The direction was set forth in a draft circular to guide the implementation of Decree 126, which provides guidance for the application of the Law on Tax Administration.

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has proposed that the government approves a decree on extending the payment of taxes and land fees in 2021 with particular measures for every tax, beneficiary, and business sector.
The MoF suggested delaying VAT payments for five months, reducing the total state budget by VND68.8 trillion ($3 billion) during the period. For corporate income tax (CIT), the MoF proposed deferring for three months â consequently, around VND40.5 trillion ($1.76 billion) will be paid to the state budget later, while VAT made by household and individual businesses to be delayed is estimated at VND1.3 trillion ($56.5 million).

More and more Vietnamese individuals with businesses online have declared tax and paid personal income tax.
The Hai Chau district taxation agency in Da Nang City has confirmed that it collected the tax arrears of VND25.3 billion from one individual. N.N.D, who lives in Da Nang, had revenue of VND281 billion from ad services paid by Google from 2015 to June 2018.
The Hanoi Taxation Agency reported that the amount of tax collected from e-commerce activities in 2020 was five times higher than 2019. Some individuals came to the agency to declare and pay tax.
