Asian Americans in metro Detroit holding rally in Troy against racism

Asian Americans are holding another rally against racism, this time Sunday in Troy, a city with a growing population of residents of Asian descent. We are asking individuals to join us, to raise our voices and speak out, said organizers in a statement by two local Asian American groups: Whenever We re Needed Detroit  and Asian Pacific & Islander American Vote - Michigan.  The rally is set for 2 to 5 p.m. outside Troy City Hall off of Big Beaver Road. Troy is Oakland County s largest city and 26% Asian American, according to the 2019 U.S. Census.  This is the fifth Asian American rally held in metro Detroit since the Atlanta shooting March 16 in which six Asian American women and two others were killed. Other rallies have been held in Detroit, Royal Oak, and Ann Arbor. Even before the Atlanta incident, there was rising concern about anti-Asian attacks over the past year.
