The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines has commenced with the second phase of its P10.56- billion Mindanao substation upgrading program aimed at bolstering the reliability of the island’s grid.
The NGCP said the grid’s performance since it took over in 2009 until 2022 was “significantly better” compared to when the grid was run by the government from 2000 to 2008.
The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) said more consumers benefited from lower power rates and "better services" since private companies took over transmission operations from the government in 2009.
The reliability of the Luzon transmission backbone is expected to improve further with the energization of the P10.2 billion Hermosa-San Jose 500-kiloVolt transmission line.
