On Saturday, the NUG released a statement welcoming the decision of the ICJ which had turned down the proposal of the military junta. They added that they would also keep commitment to the accountability of the junta army for all their crimes in the sphere of international justice.
Acting President of the NUG said that they had focused on formation the previous year and thus, 2022 would be the time for strengthening military and other affairs. According to him, there are 257 brigades of the People’s Defence Force-PDF and about 500 local PDFs in cooperation with Ministry of Defence-MOD.
Reportedly, there was a meeting between Daw Zin Mar Aung, Minister of Foreign Affairs-NUG, and Rob Berschinski, Special Assistance to the US President- Director for Democracy & Human Rights.
The NUG Union Prime Minister financially praised revolutionary groups for not taking part in the junta Thingyan and highlighting the real situation by chanting slogans online.
