Newtown s All Saints Church benefit from £2k grant support

A CHURCH in Newtown has delivered hundreds of Sunday lunches for vulnerable people and families across the town throughout the coronavirus crisis. All Saints Church in Commercial Street has been serving 80 hot meals every Sunday since the first lockdown in March. The weekly delivery, in association with Newtown Network, is for families and individuals who refer themselves or are referred by the town’s foodbank, district nurses or the mental health team. To support it through the ongoing coronavirus lockdown, Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council has granted £2,000 to the church through its community grant fund. The vicar of All Saints, Canon Revd Nia Wyn Morris said: “Thank you sincerely to our Mayor David Selby and all Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council members for the generous cheque we received this month towards the Sunday lunches.
