Initial reports suggest that investigators in the Newton Lewis murder case located a burnt out car at the end of a long, bushy track in the district. Lewis, a 46-year-old acting Station Sergeant and the assigned driver to the Commissioner of Police, was killed on Saturday night when he responded to the robbery of a shop near his Rose Hill, St Peter home.

AG: All Barbadians have a stake in fight against gun crime

Barbados Today May 23, 2021 Attorney General Dale Marshall is calling on all Barbadians to join the fight against gun crime in Barbados. Marshall made the call in a statement on the killing of Sgt. Newton Lewis. “We all have a stake in this, and we all must do more. Join us in this fight against gun crime. If you see something, say something,” Marshall said. The AG said Sergeant Newton Lewis “died a hero last night.” He was off duty at the time, but that meant nothing to him because, in his own words, “a police officer is always on duty”.
