BEAUMONT, Texas Texas state officials announced this weekend that mass coronavirus vaccination hubs have been given the green light in Southeast Texas.
Jasper and Newton Counties have been grouped together as one site, and Chambers County and Jefferson County were also approved to move forward.
After weeks of watching larger cities across the state host mass vaccinations, Southeast Texas now has the opportunity to do what county leaders have been looking for open up a vaccine hub.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Texas The official coronavirus vaccination hub list for Texas now lists three locations in Southeast Texas.
The three vaccination hubs would be in Jefferson County, Chambers County and Jasper / Newton Counties, according to the COVID-19 Vaccination Hub Providers list on the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Jefferson County Health Department, Chambers County Health Department and the Jasper-Newton Counties Public Health District are both listed, along with phone numbers, but no other information about when the vaccination hubs will be available or how to register is on the l
Flash Flood Watch Issued for Portions of the Pineywoods
The National Weather Service is expecting up to 6 inches of rain to fall across parts of the Brazos Valley, Ark-La-Tex, and the Pineywoods to close out 2020 and for that reason a couple of Flash Flood Watches have been issued.
Angelina, Nacogdoches, Cherokee, Rusk, and Panola Counties are included in one Flash Flood Watch will is active from 6 p.m. December 30 until midnight January 1. Polk, Trinity, and Houston Counties are included in a separate Flash Flood Watch will is active from 6 p.m. December 30 until 3 p.m. December 31. As of this posting, Shelby, Sabine, San Augustine, Tyler, Jasper, and Newton Counties are not included in any watches.
Jasper and Newton Counties are among five Texas counties that are part of a Hurricane Laura Disaster Declaration from President Donald Trump. Also included in the federal disaster area were Galveston, Jefferson, and Orange Counties.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has released a statement thanking President Trump for the federal declaration and the assistance that it will bring to the affected counties.
Hurricane Laura was a category 4 storm when she made landfall at Cameron Parish in August and then trudged northward up the east side of the Sabine River through Cameron, Calcasieu, Beauregard, Vernon, and Sabine Parishes.
The western eyewall of the hurricane affected the Bolivar Peninsula of Galveston County, as well as all of Orange, Jefferson, Newton, and Jasper Counties.
