Talking over each other a lot. Trump was, instead, on stage by himself in michigan speaking to a crowd of mostly nonUnion Auto Workers, and criticizing the strike against detroits big three. Thats a tight shot there. Meanwhile, in washington, it appears the farright republicans in the house are ready t
care. we talked about about this last week. he ll continue to betray you on taxes. this in and of itself is not going to be an issue that decides this election. there s also something else that s a lot different than water fwa watergate. it s the way people get their information. people usually now get their information based in news silos. they re conservative and liberal, and that s where they go and see the clips they want. when you look at what the republicans did during the hearings, which i completely disagree with, they were not playing to everybody. they were playing to a certain group of people that watch conservative media, and they were successful in doing that. they were also very successful in saying basically providing jury nullification to the american public saying, all right, so we did it, but you know, you re not going to impeach him for it. and i think that s reflected in the numbers there. what also is not reflect instead that number and people should not confuse
braz basil smikle. how did the republicans do? they theoretically finished the public hearings. they achieved part of that i goal, which was the create a narrative that would play well on conservative media. while we had very high ratings for this for the hearings, most americans didn t see it. so where do they get their information from? i call them news silos. you have it on the left and right. the show they put on was the show that they wanted for other networks. it s kind of that simple. i hate to say it. it was like they were trying to go for jury nullification. yeah, he may have done it but so what? it s not worth it. if you re watching the moderate republicans involved in the hearings, you re going to watch texas congressman herd, and he came out at the end saying i do not see in this case impeachable the president being impeachable based on what we ve seen in these hearings.
forth and the pettiness before president trump was forced to make that play. so i think a lot of it our news silos are so extreme now, and if people don t seek out news outside of what is reinforcing their preconceived notions, you might not necessarily get that. and it might not even be for lack of trying, it might just be you re not plugged into the 24/7 news cycle. but president trump s supporters know by this stage in the game that he isn t some gracious statesman. they don t expect that behavior from him and they ve been willing to excuse it time and time again in the past. in the campaign, when he insulted campaign s service, and the assumption was among people like us stupid people, that it was going to cripple his campaign, that would be the end of donald trump. of course, it wasn t. i think to a certain degree, trump is no dummy. he recognizes he got away with stuff like that.
