Parliament Speaker holds online meeting with Standing Committee Chair of China s National Public Congress

On March 31, 2021, Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia, Mr. G.Zandanshatar, held an online meeting with the Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), Mr. Li Zhanshu. At the beginning of the meeting, the Chairman of the State Great Hural, Mr. G.Zandanshatar congratulated China on successfully holding the 13th National People s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, and the 4th Session of the Chinese People s Political Consultative Conference and for making important decisions on China’s advancing of social and economic development. He also stressed that the development of good-neighborly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation with China on the long run is one of the priorities of Mongolia s foreign policy.

EU TRAM project steering committee convenes

2021-04-02 14:11:26 Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The steering committee of the European Union’s Trade Related Assistance for Mongolia (TRAM) project held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on April 1. The committee reviewed the actions taken in 2020 and the plan for actions to be undertaken until the project is completed in July.   The EU TRAM project with three components, trade policy, trade facilitation and export development, has been implemented since 2017 in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, Mongolian Customs, General Agency for Specialized Inspection, Mongolian Agency for Standardization and Metrology, National Development Agency, and the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry. 

Health information and counseling services become available to adolescents with help of technology

JOINT PRESS RELEASE Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On April 1, UNFPA Mongolia and Unitel Group signed a partnership agreement to support a new online service that provides sexual and reproductive health information and referral services for adolescents and increase their accessibility to adolescent and youth-friendly health services through technological innovation.     Under the agreement, an artificial intelligence-based virtual family planning coach, developed by UNFPA Mongolia, with the support of UNFPA global initiative on innovations, an online service “Mandukhai” chatbot will be promoted.    Mandukhai online chatbot will provide scientifically accurate information on topics that are the most sought for by adolescents when they face challenges such as unwanted pregnancy, prevention of sexually transmitted infections and referrals to youth-friendly services while keeping confidentiality. Feasibility of building export-oriented factories in rural areas discussed

2021-04-01 15:24:24 Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Director of the Agency of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME Agency) Ya.Erdenesaikhan had a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Mongolia Borbala Anna Obrusánszky.   At the meeting, the Hungarian Embassy’s advisor on agriculture and foreign trade B.Ankhbayar talked about the feasibility of building export-oriented European standard meat and milk factories in rural areas and proposed cooperating in that effort.   It plans to choose an aimag to build a small factory as a try-out in and use the Hungarian Export-Import Bank as the funding source.   SME Agency Director Ya.Erdenesaikhan showed an interest in cooperating with the Hungarian equivalent of the SME Agency.

Project launched to develop capability of geotechnical and mining professionals

2021-04-01 19:36:40 Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On April 1, Oyu Tolgoi LLC and Rio Tinto in partnership with the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST) launched a joint project to build and develop the capability of geotechnical and mining professionals in Mongolia. Rio Tinto Mongolia and Oyu Tolgoi LLC will provide US$2.75 million in funding for the project, which will run until the end of 2025.  The initiative was officially launched today with a cooperation agreement signed by Kh.Amarjargal, Country Director, of Rio Tinto Mongolia, Armando Torres, Chief Executive Officer of Oyu Tolgoi LLC and B. Ochirbat, President of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology.
