Live from the kgotv broadcast center, this is abc7 news. A deadly day at sea. A bay area man is dead and three people are hurt after two boats collide in Southern California. Tonight a fifth person is still missing. Good evening. It happened off catalina island. 26yearold Michael Harris was killed. He is the son of the former ceo peter harris. Abc7 News Reporter lilian kim joins us live in the newsroom with more on the story. Michael harris was with his girlfriend a quarter mile from the casino point. They were all in a dingy when it was struck by a speeding boat. Witnesses say they heard someone screaming for help around 1 00 a. M. The collision happened near catalina island. Michael harris was killed. His girlfriend and two others were killed and others injured. They launched a dive and sonar search and suspended their efforts at 7 00 p. M. Reporter it happened as Police Officers noticed an extra car parked on west sunny oaks avenue. Matching the car matching neighborhood surveillance cameras. A silver 1998 honda. The driver had grabbed the girl and tried to kidnap her saturday morning. Between the car description and what he looked like it was pretty clear that they were on to something. 25yearold roberto felipevelasco was a transient living in his car. He had a close resemblance based on the young victims description. His storage locker contained clothing that matches the sketch. We dont have any previous contacts with him. We know he has family in the area and works in the area. But he lives out of his car from place to place. Reporter police say he works as a dishwasher and didnt know about the video showing his car.
