New faces on the way at Milton Keynes Council even before a vote is cast – and why you will get two borough votes in some wards
At least 11 new faces will be elected to serve as councillors in Milton Keynes borough following the elections on May 6 – and that’s GUARANTEED.
A combination of factors have come together to see more than half the 21 seats up for grabs this time round not being fought by sitting councillors.

Most of the seats up for election would have been fought in May 2020 but were postponed because of the pandemic. May 2021 was due to be a “fallow” year, with no elections, but the postponements have filled the gap for election junkies.

A few residents in London Road suffer from regular flooding and have been provided with piles of sandbags by MK Council.
Despite this, in January the flooding was so severe that three trucks were sent to pump the water out of three houses and one cellar. You can see the extent of the flooding in our video.
The problem is that the very old and inadequate drains in the area cannot cope with a deluge of water from heavy rainfall, say the residents.

Councillors at Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Fire Authority believe their budget is “unsustainable” as they feel forced to dip into their reserves to the tune of £1.1 million this year and could run out of money in a few years time.
Cllr Lesley Clarke OBE (Cons, Buckinghamshire), who was chairing this morning’s (Wednesday) meeting of the full fire authority said that the budget isn’t sustainable.
She proposed ring-fencing £600,000 which was the cost of a police budget referendum in Bedfordshire a few years ago.
She said that in the meantime the fire authority would continue to lobby the Government for them to be able to increase their share of the council tax by an average of £5 for the year.
