Police: Dog dies after two weekend shootings

NEW HAVEN Police have released more details in two shootings Friday and Sunday, one of which killed a family dog when the shooter opened fire on the owners out for a walk
The first incident occurred around 12:50 p.m., police Capt. Anthony Duff said, when officers were called to a ShotSpotter alert and 911 call for gunfire on Shelton Avenue between Bassett Street and Huntington Street.
The area sits in the city’s Newhallville neighborhood.
