Newarkâs new International Air & Space Training Institute (IASTI) is now accepting applications for its September 2021 intake, just days after funding was agreed by Chancellor Rishi Sunak in his budget.
The announcement was made at the project launch today where the RAF signed up as an official partner.
Guests included the Secretary of State for Housing Communities and Local Government and Newark MP Robert Jenrick, Midlands Engine chairman Sir John Peace, Newark Towns Fund Chairmen Tom Cartledge and David Lloyd, leader of Newark and Sherwood District Council, and RAF Air Marshal Andrew Turner.

Transformative plans for Newark given the go ahead by the government in todayâs budget announcement have been described as a once in a generation opportunity.
Members of the Newark Towns Fund Board have expressed their delight on hearing Rishi Sunak s announcement Newark is to get the full £25m possible from the Governmentâs Towns Fund initiative.
The funding will support nine catalyst projects for the regeneration of the town, with further projects and aspirations spanning the next 30 years. The ambitious and aspirational plans will transform Newark, building on what we already have and making it a vibrant place for people to live, work and visit.
Newark College sets down building blocks to future success

New courses developed to meet the needs of local employers and learners are to be offered at Newark College through the development of a training centre.
Disused buildings on the collegeâs Friary Road campus are being repurposed to create the new plumbing training and gas assessment centre.
In addition, the college is expanding the bricklaying provision, developing a joinery degree level qualification and working to deliver a stonemasonry apprenticeship.
