Letter to the Editor: Here s an example of Rep Bob Gibbs incongruous hyperbole
Letter to the Editor: Here s an example of Rep. Bob Gibbs incongruous hyperbole The Repository © Newark Letter to the Editor On May 3, Rep. Bob Gibbs released his statement to the House Committee on Oversight and Reform. In that, Gibbs said, “The lack of transparency and politicians avoiding accountability are major factors why the American people feel so disconnected and ignored by Washington.” I totally agree with his statement, but Gibbs himself does not. It’s just another example of Gibbs using hyperbole but demanding that people take that incongruous hyperbole as fact (journalist Walter Einenkel). A recent case in point: On May 19, the House voted to approve legislation to establish an independent commission to investigate the violent insurrection on Jan. 6 at the U.S. Capitol. Thirty-five Republicans voted in favor of the Jan. 6 commission bill; Bob Gibbs was not one of them.

Letter to the Editor: Nuclear deals should not have waiting periods for site inspections
Letter to the Editor: Nuclear deals should not have waiting periods for site inspections The Repository © Newark Letter to the Editor Hopefully, President Joe Biden will make nuclear deals with Iran and North Korea. However, it is equally to be hoped that he does not repeat the fatal flaw of the first Iran deal: It imposed a waiting period for the inspection of suspected sites. This would have allowed them to move the materials for making a nuclear weapon such as enriched uranium to a second site during the waiting period for the first site; then when the second site would come under suspicion, it would have a waiting period during which the material could be moved to a third site; and so on. (That is why a future president may cancel the deal again.)
