norah, which is she has said she can t be sure, and she said there are gaps in her own knowledge where she was inebriated as well, and she can come and tell the story. i think it s circular though could have a new yorker story coming out with less evidence than in normal articles. there s corroboration in excess of what has been typical of several of those articles. we accurately and fairly present any pushback, and we err on the conservative side when we report something this serious and we are very careful, and we are on the side of not including things. there are always in these stories, things that are not placed in there, and anything that we feel we run is something that we feel is news and significantly corroborated. that s the case here.
when she talks to the new yorker could not be sure kavanaugh was there, and only after six days of coaching with her lawyer decided she was there, and everybody she alleged was there also says it didn t happen. you have the accuser here who, for whatever reason, has a story that doesn t line up with everybody they claim should be there to corroborate. this is now a smear campaign on steroids. let me make clear what the calendars show. they do not show any notation showing there was a party that brett kavanaugh went to, but those who have reviewed it it doesn t disprove that he went to such a party. can we just pause and ask ourselves how many 17-year-olds have calendars that talk about, like, small drinking parties at somebody s house. he has other parties on this
questions about the argument over the potential delay back and forth? they suggest democrats knew about the charge last week and also some senior republicans knew about this new allegation last week, so you could see why democrats wanted to delay, perhaps, and why republicans, perhaps, didn t. we had immediately after the new yorker, a report came out last night and we reached out to a lot of the offices you are referring to, mitch mcconnell said no, the senate democrats that appeared to know about the allegation did not come to them with this and did not know about it until the report came out, and senator grassley s office, i talked to them, and they said we did not know about the allegations until the new yorker story published it, and again, senate democrats did not come to them with the allegations because that has been a contentious point
of events. reporter ronan farrow stands by the story. the fact that she took several days to carefully think about whether she wanted to cast herself into this maelstrom is i think certainly, you know, an acknowledgment of the fact that there were gaps in her memory, as is so often the case with traumatic memories influenced by alcohol. we did severe, however, several direct accounts from people who said they were told right after or saw her describing it right after. reporter: cnn has not corroborated ramirez s claim and her lawyers told cnn no comment when asked to confirm the details in the new yorker story. the new yorker could find no one with firsthand knowledge of the alleged sexual misconduct. the president continues to defend his nominee. judge kavanaugh is an outstanding person. and i am with him all the way. for people to come out of the woodwork from 36 years ago and 30 years ago and never mentioned
than debby ramirez, why did you feel so comfortable running with the story? two reasons, her claim is corroborated, as you said to an extent that is not always possible, and yet independently recounted the same fact pattern, and some of those people are on record in this story, and the other is the same reason she decided to speak, john, which is a story that is out there on the hill. it is being investigated. it is a matter of news whether she tells her own version of the story or not. that put her in a difficult position, and the public deserves to hear this portion of her story because it will be a source of conflict on the hill over the next coming days. let s talk about this. kellyanne conway is a counselor to the present just commented on the story. what i read is what i read,
