KOTA KINABALU: Private organisations and state departments in Sabah have chosen to forego massive New Year’s Eve parties in favour of staying safe during the pandemic. Sutera Harbour Resort, known for its great countdown parties with fireworks and which has hosted deejays, local celebrities and crowds in the thousands, has decided to hit the pause button this year. Its senior staff member said the decision was made due to the pandemic and state regulations prohibiting mass gatherings. Other establishments, too, are expected to take similar steps to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
