The coronavirus pandemic has canceled social events leading many to explore the outdoors.
In the spirit of welcoming the New Year, the James City County Parks & Recreation department is hosting an outdoor scavenger hunt on New Year’s Day with clocks.
That’s right: Scavengers will have to scour parks and trails for hidden clocks.
Each clock features a QR code and the person who finds the clock must scan the QR code and add their contact information.
“The scavenger hunt is a way to offer an interactive program that people can participate in while also being safe and social distancing,” Sarah O’Reilly, Recreation Program Coordinator for Sports, Athletics, and Outdoors and program coordinator for the scavenger hunt, wrote in an email Tuesday. “We also want to encourage the community to visit some of our parks that are less trafficked throughout the year.”
