A veteran councillor who represented his ward in West Windsor for 12 years has died.
John Fido, who was 83 and lived in Testwood Road, served an an Independent on the Royal Borough between 2004 and 2012. He made the news when he successfully fought plans not to replace the mini-roundabout at the dangerous junction of Maidenhead Road and Mill Lane in his ward - it had been removed to ease the way for Olympic traffic in 2012 and he made sure it went back. But he was an active member of the community for many years before that, co-founding the New Windsor Community Association which built the hall in Hanover Way.
