NEW ULM The New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce announced that Bob Beussman, who served over a decade as mayor of New Ulm, has earned top honors as Tourism Person of the Year. Mayor Bob’s passion and enthusiasm for the city of New Ulm has heightened New Ulm’s profile as a must-see destination in the region.
The CVB committee received many nominations. Beussman was chosen for his outstanding service to, and involvement in, the community. The committee unanimously supported the nomination and are excited to celebrate his mayoral career.
The Tourism Mixer will also feature Park and Recreation updates. Local tourist destination updates, including updated openings and hours.

NEW ULM Brown County commissioners approved a bid abstract summary for a concrete overlay project on CSAH 13 between Hanska and 220th Street, near New Ulm on Tuesday.
Action came on a motion by Commissioner Scott Windschitl, seconded by Commissioner Jeff Veerkamp.
Work is scheduled to begin on or before June 7 and take up to 60 working days to complete. Bids were opened Feb. 24. The project will be funded with federal, state aid and Local Option Sales Tax funds.
The county highway department sent paperwork to the low bidder and Minnesota Civil Rights Office and waiting for approval of the low bidder’s DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise) application and State Workforce Plan.

NEW ULM BoCo Real Estate and Oak Hills Living Center were named 2020 Small and Large Businesses of the Year by the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce on Thursday.
Chamber members voted for the awards during a virtual annual chamber business meeting. Windings, Inc., and Bank Midwest were other Large Business of the Year nominations. Bailey Creek Boutique and the New Ulm Area Foundation were other Small Business of the Year nominations.
“We were very honored to have been nominated and recognize for the Business of the Year award. It’s very exciting for us. We’re very excited about what everyone has done,” said Oak Hills Administrator Candas Schouvieller.
