Meghalaya chief minister, Conrad K Sangma, has declared that his government will hire 2,000 police officers to reinforce law enforcement in the state. The chief minister has promised to equip the new force with modern technologies, such as new vehicles for different police stations and acquiring motorcycles to speed up emergency response times.
For years, Hawai‘i Island police has struggled with bringing on new recruits to the department. In June, 78 sworn vacancies were reported to the county’s police commission.
