MANILA: A Philippine couple who led one of the world’s longest-running Maoist insurgencies was killed several months ago, communist rebels and security officials said on Thursday.
Casilao, who was arrested in Malaysia, was deported to the Philippines on Monday. According to police and immigration authorities, he had left the Philippines under a false name.
PNP Director for Intelligence Police Major General Benjamin Acorda Jr. announced that alleged CPP-NPA leader Eric Jun Casilao was intercepted by Malaysian authorities at the Langkawi Immigration check-in counter. Acorda said Casilao was on his way to Thailand via ferry boat.
