LOS ANGELES, Feb 1 Would audiences pay to see a new movie on the big screen if they could watch the same title at home from the comfort of their couch? Prior to the pandemic, the response from theatre operators and cinema purists would have been a resounding “no.”
Yet Hollywood is finding that, at least while a plague of Biblical proportion rages, the answer is: sorta.
Dune
Dune, the upcoming science fiction movie by Denis Villeneuve, is the first of a planned two-part adaptation from Frank Herbert s 1965 eponymous novel. The stellar line-up consists of Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Chang Chen and Jason Moma.
Set in the far future, Duke Leto Atreides (Oscar Isaac) sends his son Paul (Chalamet) and other trusted advisers to Arrakis, a desert planet home to find the spice , a drug that extends human life. The drug also grants you superhuman levels of thoughts and to travel faster than the speed of life.
Described as an epic story , the movie is set to feature breathtaking cinematography and visual effects of the fictional planet.

Wonder Woman 1984 led domestic box office charts for the third straight weekend without much in the way of competition.
The superhero sequel nabbed US$3 million (RM12 million) between Friday and Sunday, bringing its total in the US and Canada to US$32.6 million.
Overseas, the film grabbed US$4.7 million for an international tally of US$98.8 million.
