East Cleveland residents will be spared increases in their council tax bill this year from the five town and parish councils who are able to levy a precept charge.
Steven Clark disappeared in mysterious circumstances in 1992 while out on a family walk in Saltburn. His parents, Charles and Doris Clark, were arrested when a cold case review was instigated and a murder investigation was launched last September. At the time Mr Clark, of New Marske, East Cleveland, expressed his shock following his arrest by Cleveland Police. The force has never confirmed the identity of the two suspects. Detective Chief Inspector Shaun Page said: “Officers from the joint Cleveland and North Yorkshire Police Cold Case Unit have followed a significant number of lines of enquiry since the launch of the murder investigation in 2020, which followed a review of the original case.

Looking at which independent takeaways have scored among the highest from thousands of reviews left, it has named the top five in each area. But at least another 900 are needed in Redcar and Cleveland for every school child to have their own laptop or tablet – and community heroes have vowed to make it happen. The #compsforkids campaign is the work of Redcar group Ladies of Steel, Marske and New Marske Community Information Group (MNMCIG) and Redcar businessman Ja Reed of EnterIT who has been refurbishing the computers for free.
