Sarasota’s ‘Unconditional Surrender’ statue is moved
SARASOTA – A crew of experts from New Jersey-based Seward Johnson Atelier have placed the iconic “Unconditional Surrender sculpture” at its new home along the Bayfront on Thursday.
Crews hoisted the 25-foot-tall sculpture by crane onto a flatbed truck and moved it a short distance to its new site along the Bayfront on a swath of parkland between O’Leary’s Tiki Bar & Grill and Marina Jack. Installation is expected to be completed on Friday.
The relocation of “Complexus” – the 70-foot fire engine red sculpture across the street – to its new temporary site at the Sarasota Art Museum is scheduled for Monday.
