Corrections and clarifications: The Associated Press, citing unidentified sources, reported in January that Officer Brian Sicknick may have been hit in the head by a fire extinguisher. But no official cause of death has been released, and U.S. Capitol Police have said only that he died “due to injuries sustained while on-duty.”
WASHINGTON – Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick, who died from injuries sustained during the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol, was returned Tuesday evening to lie in honor in the Rotunda.

Sicknick s parents Gladys and Charles sat in the front row holding back tears through the ceremony

Members of Congress and law enforcement gathered at the Capitol Rotunda Wednesday for a ceremony to honor Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick, who died from injuries suffered in the violent siege on the U.S. Capitol.
Brian Sicknick was a New Jersey Air National Guard veteran and 12-year Capitol Police officer who died after confronting rioters storming the Capitol building.
