PIA announces fare for Air Safari service

KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Tuesday announced the fare for its Air Safari service that is scheduled to start from June 12, ARY News reported.
According to PIA spokesperson, the inaugural flight will fly from Islamabad to Skardu on June 12 and the one-way fare for Air Safari service will be Rs25,000.
PIA has named this service ‘Sadpara Air Safari,’ after the prominent mountaineer, Ali Sadpara, who lost his life along with two international mountaineers during their quest to conquer K2 in winter.
The national airline said that the Safari flight would operate every Saturday from the New Islamabad Airport and fly over the mighty K2, Nanga Parbat, Gaherbrum peaks, Deosai plains and famous Saif ul Maluk lake.

A bid to smuggle heroin to Qatar was foiled at the New Islamabad Airport on Friday and the passenger was arrested by the authorities.
A passenger, a resident of Gujrat, was attempting to smuggle 2kgs of the narcotic substance via a PIA flight when he was detained by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF).
He was shifted by the ANF for further investigation and his luggage was confiscated as evidence.
Earlier, the Pakistan Navy and the ANF conducted a joint operation in the Pishukan area of Balochistanand recovered 700kg of drugs worth more than Rs2 billion.

Parliamentary secretary says outcome of inquiries on New Islamabad Airport pending

ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Secretary for Aviation Division Jamil Ahmed Khan on Monday apprised the National Assembly that three new airline companies have approached Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to start domestic flight operations.
Replying to various questions during Question Hour, he said that North Air has been issued tourism promotion and regional integration (passengers and cargo) license. Presently, the company was in process to acquire air operating certificate (AOC) from the aviation authority, he said.
He said Fly Jinnah Services Regular Public Transport (RPT) License case has been submitted to the federal cabinet for approval. The company would induct A-320 airbus and would start operations after obtaining operating certificate from the aviation authority.
Islamabad Airport Gets New Type of COVID-19 Detectors
Specially trained dogs have been deployed at New Islamabad International Airport to sniff out passengers infected with COVID-19.
According to details, Pakistan Army’s Dog Breeding Training Centre and School have trained the dogs in order to identify passengers infected with Coronavirus.

The dogs have been deployed initially at New Islamabad Airport as part of a trial which will be extended to all airports in the next few weeks.
Besides, a four-member team of the Ministry of Health has also been deployed at New Islamabad Airport to collect the samples of the suspected Coronavirus patients.
