Serious crash involving cyclist and car closed Derbyshire road

A serious collision involving a car and a cyclist closed a Derbyshire road for several hours this afternoon.
The B6179 Alfreton Road, Little Eaton, was shut in both directions between the junctions of New Inn Lane and Duffield Road.
Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit tweeted to say that an investigation was ongoing following the collision, which officers say involved a pedal cyclist and a Ford Focus.
The cyclist, a 67-year-old man, was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre, in Nottingham, for treatment where he remains in a critical condition.
