GWRSD lifts outdoor mask mandate June 03, 2021WOLFEBORO The Governor Wentworth Regional School District Board voted unanimously on a motion by board member Jim Pittman of Effingham to lift the outdoor mask mandate during its May 24 meeting at the Kingswood Arts Center. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has dropped the mask mandate for outdoor activities with the understanding that UV rays and air circulation outdoors lower transmission in that setting to just above 1 percent. Superintendent Kathy Cuddy-Egbert noted that the Athletic Association has dropped its requirements for mask wearing outside. The waiver extends to children during outdoor recess. Vaccinated adults are no longer part of the guidelines, but mask wearing is still recommended for schools. She reported that the New Hampshire Health and Human Services Department predicts that mask wearing could be dropped by the time the next school year begins.
