Letter: Edelblut and the First Amendment Published: 1/15/2021 12:03:05 AM Over the weekend, New Hampshire Commissioner of Education Frank Edelblut sent out two tweets containing memes with the hashtag “#FreeSpeech” that appeared to show support for Parler, the social media app that has gained fame as the social media app more favored by right-wing extremists. Google, Apple, and Amazon all decided to cut ties with Parler recently after determining that Parler was in violation of their terms of service by not doing enough to eliminate speech that encourages violent and/or illegal activity. I don’t want to jump to conclusions about what exactly the commissioner was intending to communicate. Rather, I would love for the commissioner to utilize his freedom of speech to more clearly and deeply explain to the citizens of New Hampshire – especially our students – what exactly his position is on the dispute between Parler and Google, Apple, and Amazon and how, in his mind, it
