NEW ERA, Michigan Students at a local school were quite busy through the new year.
Earlier this month, I got an email about the kids at New Era Christian School. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, they made more than 420 cards for residents at several local nursing and assisted living homes.
The cards went to Oceana Medical Care Facility and Cherry Blossom Manor in Hart; SKLD and White Lake Assisted Living in Whitehall; and Beacon Specialized Living, Chestnut Fields, and McAuley Place in Muskegon.
NEW ERA â 2020 is over, and no one is mourning its passing.
Hereâs a story, however, that proves that even in 2020, comfort and joy could be found. It begins at New Era Christian School, where teacher Jenna Leffring decided to ask her students to come up with an idea to brighten the holidays for area nursing home and assisted living residents who have been particularly isolated due to the pandemic.
âAt New Era Christian, we have a philosophy called TFTâTruth for Training,â explains the 28-year-old art and music instructor. âIt involves exploring what our âdeep hopesâ are, in terms of living through Christ. My deep hope for my students is to use the gifts that God gave them to encourage others and point them to Christ.
