High school chorus nominated for three Emmy awards

The Concord-Carlisle High School Chorus, under the direction of Deborah Smith, has been nominated for three Emmys for their music video You Raise Me Up.”
The regional division of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences accorded the nominations in three separate categories. The NATAS Boston/New England Chapter will present the 44th Boston/New England Emmy Awards Ceremony as a virtual event June 26.
Because of the pandemic, the Massachusetts Department of Education guidelines stated that singing could only occur outdoors singing with masks and ten feet of social distance. Since traditional concerts were not feasible, Smith devised the music video project as a way for chorus students to sing together during the pandemic.
