CAMBRIDGE, Mass., May 5, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Carmine Therapeutics, Inc., an emerging leader in gene therapy, today announced that Don Haut, PhD has been appointed as its Chief Executive Officer, and member of the Board of Directors.
Founded and incubated by EVX Ventures, Carmine is developing next-generation, non-viral gene therapies for a broad spectrum of diseases. Based on a proprietary Red Cell Extracellular Vesicle Gene Therapy technology, the REGENT™ technology can overcome the limitations of today s viral-based gene therapies such as immunogenicity, small payload capacity, and manufacturing challenges. As such, Carmine believes its gene therapies have the potential for repeat dosing, large and multiple payload capacity, and improved manufacturing economics.
Safaricom CEO, Peter Ndegwa, said Safaricom will initiate the relevant talent sourcing processes to identify and appoint the next Financial Services leaders in due course.
Lopokoiyit joined Safaricom PLC in 2018, having previously served as M-Commerce Director at Vodacom Tanzania PLC Ltd from October 2015.

During his time at Vodacom, he oversaw the delivery of several transformative products and services; led the turnaround strategy and execution for M-Pesa which has resulted in the accelerated growth of M-Pesa in Tanzania. Prior to joining Vodacom Tanzania PLC, he was the Head M-Pesa Strategy and Business Development at Safaricom.
He has over 10 years of senior managerial experience from different fields; oil and gas (Chevron and Total Kenya Ltd) and in the Retail industry with Uchumi supermarkets in Kenya. He has worked extensively in the East Africa Region as well as in Mauritius and Reunion.
