Three people suffered serious injuries in a head-on accident that transported all three to the hospital and shut down State Highway 46 in both directions for hours Tuesday evening.
David Ferguson, city communications coordinator, said New Braunfels police and fire units responded to the 2100 block of SH 46 South in Guadalupe County around 9:24 p.m.
âIt took about 20 minutes to extract all three,â he said of the scene, where a 2012 Acura had collided with a 1998 Chevy pickup. âAll were transported by ground EMS to Seton Hays Hospital in Kyle.â
Three New Braunfels men, ages 34, 25 and 21 were hospitalized, all in serious or critical condition, New Braunfels Fire Department Capt. Chris Nored said.Â
A 38-year-old New Braunfels man was killed Thursday night after his motorcycle veered into oncoming State Highway 46 traffic after a collision with another vehicle, police said.
David Ferguson, city communications coordinator, said New Braunfels police and fire units were called to the intersection of State Highway 46 West and Oak Run Point around 5:45 p.m.
âA nearby Comal County Sheriffâs Office deputy quickly arrived and immediately began lifesaving measures,â Ferguson said. âHowever, the driver of the motorcycle succumbed to his injuries as police and paramedics arrived.â
Ferguson said the New Braunfels Police Department Traffic Unit began an accident reconstruction investigation.
Northbound lanes of Interstate 35 were shut down for nearly three hours as police investigated the death of a pedestrian struck and killed by several vehicles Monday evening, they said.
David Ferguson, city communications coordinator, said police were called to the 1900 block of I-35 North, between the Business 35 and Farm-to-Market Road 306 overpasses, around 8:15 p.m.
âThere were reports of a person who had been struck by multiple vehicles in the main lanes of traffic,â Ferguson said. âOfficers arrived, confirmed the fatality, and immediately closed off all of northbound I-35 in that area, and redirected northbound traffic to the access road at North Business 35.â
