NEW BEDFORD It’s officially Pride month! June is about honoring and celebrating LGBTQ activism, culture and sharing your support toward the queer community.
The SouthCoast LGBTQ+ Network has planned a month-full of activities designed to entertain, educate and inspire the community. This year, amid COVID-19, the network is offering an expansive range of events and activities online and/or in-person.
“We ve come a long way and it s because of other people who really stuck their neck out and sometimes their lives,” added The Network’s President Andy Pollock. “And if we re not doing that, who s gonna do it?”
SouthCoast LGBTQ+ Network marketing director and board member, Kerry Zeida says Pride month isn’t only about recognizing the LGBTQ+ community but by using the month of June to continuing educating the world. “The goal is to have conversations and sort of widen that a little bit,” Zeida said.

Bartlett joins Townsquare Sunday host Jim Phillips this week to explain who s eligible to use the site, where the staffing is coming from, and the strategies being used to convince seafood workers to line up for their shot.
Bartlett was hoping to administer 1,000 vaccinations on Saturday, the site s opening day. Her interview can be heard here:
In an email to its patients on Friday, Southcoast Health explained the Massachusetts Department of Public Health will no longer send additional first-dose vaccines to hospitals and health systems. The state will re-prioritize and redirect doses to mass vaccination sites, as they have announced two more in Danvers and Dartmouth this week, as well as retail pharmacy sites and community health centers.
“All patients and hospital staff with existing appointments will get their first and second shots, and the administration is hopeful more vaccines will arrive soon for more providers, including hospital systems,” a spokeswoman for the state’s COVID-19 Response Command Center said in a statement to the Boston Globe.
