Slam Jam and New Balance have come together once again, this time around delivering a Made in U.K. 991 alongside a pair of track pants and a complementing track jacket.
The collaboration follows on from 2019’s “Unfinished” 990v3 collaboration which produced just 89 pairs in total, and for the 991, Slam Jam is set to make the pair more widely available for us (who are lucky enough to cop) to enjoy. Sticking with its “(Un)corporate Uniforms” project the ongoing study into understanding, developing, and being at one the ideals of the ultimate uniform the 991 features a generally unassuming and muted color palette, but of course with Slam Jam’s involvement, nothing is what it seems.

Continuing the 991‘s 20th anniversary celebration, New Balance has released the beloved runner-turned-lifestyle silhouette in a soft pink and gray colorway. Constructed in the UK at the brand’s famed Flimby factory, this pretty-in-pink 991 supplies seasonally appropriate style for any NB fanatic.
A soft pastel pink coats the upper’s mesh base and supple suede overlays. It’s then accented from heel to toe by gray embellishments, which appear on the toebox, at the bottom of the throat, around the collar and on the lace keeper and and tongue. Gray is most notable on the quarter panel and heel however, thanks to a signature N logo rimmed in white on the former and a 991 graphic on the latter.

It’s been 20 years since the New Balance 991 initially arrived on the shelves back in 1991, and its Boston sportswear home has been celebrating by increasing its output of new colorways in the first half of 2021. Up next on the roster is this fresh makeup that skews towards the darker side of the spectrum by amalgamating dark navy and brown hues together.
Upper constructions are formed with that of pigskin suede materials and a soft mesh, the former of which touches the overlays and the backgrounds of the tongues, while the latter wraps most of the upper in the muted navy. Interior liners and the N logo borders are both presented in white, while the N logos themselves slightly contrast with a lighter beige composition. New Balance branding and the N letters that fall on the bridge of the foot are also painted in a matching navy tone.
