Continuing this fight against big soda in 2015 with our coalition with legislation that we think will make our communities healthier and better informed informed. The legislation im introducing will prohibit the use of city funds from city departments and contractors from purchasing sugary drinks it doesnt ban vendors or private parties from bringing them but it limits the city and departments and contractors that do business with the city to consume sugary beverages we cant in good faith know the terrible harm these drinks cause and then allow them to be handed out in childrens programs or encourage employees to drink them and to provide the department of Public Health and our staff more information about the sale of these harmful products. Lower Providence Police and Fire Department and the Montgomery County hazmat have responded to a Company Called e. R. Joseph. They make compressed gas. Were told by the fire chief that they respond to a little after 9 00. Workers inside the Company Called 911 smelling chlorine. They Say Something spilled inside. There were numerous follow up calls. You can see the company is embedded in a large residential neighborhood. Were told 50 homes have been evacuated. About five to ten people were taken to the local hospital complains of breathing problems. Many be housed at the lower providence Fire Department. It will be sometime before the people can get back into their homes.
