A 28-year-old man accused in a fatal shooting in Cathedral City pleaded not guilty today to a murder charge.
Jose Ernesto Martinez of Desert Hot Springs was arrested Saturday on suspicion of gunning down 27-year-old Isaac Valles of Rancho Mirage earlier that morning.
Martinez was arraigned at the Banning Justice Center before Riverside County Superior Court Judge Alfonso Fernandez, who set bail at $1 million and scheduled a felony settlement conference for July 13 at the Larson Justice
Center in Indio.
Martinez remains held at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio. Along with a murder charge, Martinez faces a sentence-enhancing allegation of discharging a firearm causing great bodily injury.

arrested Saturday and remains held at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio on $1 million bail awaiting his arraignment at the Banning Justice Center.
Martinez was charged late Tuesday with murder, and he faces a sentence-enhancing allegation of discharging a firearm causing great bodily injury.
Martinez allegedly gunned down 27-year-old Isaac Valles of Rancho Mirage early Saturday, the result of a domestic dispute, according to the Cathedral City Police Department.

One man is in jail in connection to a deadly shooting early Saturday morning in Cathedral City.
It happened in the 31800 block of Neuma Drive just after 2:30 am.
The man who died is identified as 27-year-old Rancho Mirage resident Isaac Valles.
Investigators say the crime is related to a domestic dispute.
Valles had several gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
After speaking with witnesses, police later arrested a suspect in Desert Hot Springs.
Investigators are asking anyone with information in the case to contact the Cathedral City Police Department.

Police found an adult male with multiple gunshot wounds lying in the roadway. Twenty-seven-year-old Isaac Valles of Rancho Mirage was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cathedral City Police Department.
