The platform for the three was built with internal combustion, plug-in hybrid, and electric drivetrains in mind.
Despite not requiring as much cooling air flow, the i4 pair still sport the massive nostrils of the regular BMW 4-Series.
Of the 16 models and 47 trim packages BMW currently offers, only one, the diminutive i3, is pure electric. That will change early next year with the addition of three new BMW all-electric i models: the i4 eDrive40, iX xDrive50, and the very promising performance i4 M50, all scheduled for availability March of 2022.
Let’s start with that M50, the one with all the power and performance. BMW says the i4 M50 is the “first fully electric performance model to come from BMW M GmbH.” And it probably won’t be the last.
