A 19-year-old Buffalo State College student who had been missing for nearly two weeks is presumed to have died by suicide at Niagara Falls, according to the Erie County district attorney.
At a news conference Thursday, Erie County District Attorney John Flynn took reporters through a minute-by-minute account of Saniyya Dennis last known whereabouts, noting her boyfriend had broken up with her earlier in the day and that she had told him and another male friend that she was considering suicide.
Dennis, a Bronx native, was last seen leaving her dorm building around 11 p.m. on April 24 before throwing out some personal items and boarding a bus to Niagara Falls, where Park Police cameras last spotted her after midnight, according to investigators.

ALBANYÂ â Overtime costs at state agencies in New York increased 5.5% last year as COVID-19 put some departments into high gear to address the pandemic, records showed.
Overtime surged in particular at the state Department of Labor as it grappled with an unprecedented rise in unemployment claims last year. Overtime jumped nearly $25 million in 2020 at the labor department compared to 2019, accounting for 56% of the total overtime increase at state agencies last year.
Additionally, 15 state workers each raked in more than $150,000 in overtime last year â in most cases more than doubling their base salaries, the records from the state Comptroller s Office obtained by the USA TODAY Network New York through a Freedom of Information request showed.
something was hard to miss.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo, delivering a briefing from his Manhattan office on June 29, calmly discussed the state s latest COVID-19 numbers in front of a large, covered mound, waiting until the end of his presentation to pull the curtain and reveal what was underneath.
The grand reveal uncovered a giant prop: A large, multi-layered foam mountain, a visual metaphor built to the specs of the state s coronavirus curve to that point. We dealt with that spike, and we climbed right up the mountain, Cuomo said that day as he pointed to the sculpture s peak. We got smart. New Yorkers stepped up. We wore masks, we socially distanced, we closed down and we stopped the curve.
